ワークシャツの背中には、タックがない。そのことが何を意味するのか、これまで真面目に考えたことがなかった。
タックがないぶん、身幅と肩幅をしっかり取っておかないと、着たときに窮屈になるのだという。言われてみれば当たり前の話だが、そういうことは一度言葉にしてもらうまで、なかなか気づかない（僕だけかもしれない）。
このシャツも、身幅は大きめで、肩も少し落ちる。そのせいで袖はボワっと広がるのだけれど、それがワークシャツらしさでもあるらしい。胸には、タバコが入るマチ付きの山ポケ。ポケットの形で特許を取った、という話も、悪くない。
生地は、撚り杢のシャンブレー。白と色の糸を撚り合わせたヨコ糸を使っているので、単色の糸を組み合わせたものとは、ちょっと違う色合いになる。

A work shirt with the "Yama-Poke" chest pocket: deep enough to hold a pack of cigarettes, with the sides cut lower so it's easy to pull out. The idea was once patented.
Made from 5 oz, 100% cotton chambray. The weft is twisted from white and colored yarns, which gives a tone you don't get from single-color yarns.
Roomy through the body and shoulders, since work shirts have no back tuck. Wide sleeves that puff out a little.
Metal buttons stamped on the chest, painted to match vintage references. Made in Japan.
